About
The aim of the module is to make sports managers aware of the current economic challenges facing sport, by highlighting the sources of funding and cost structures inherent in different types of sports organization (amateur and professional clubs, events, federations, sports facilities, etc.).
It also aims to provide sports managers with the tools they need to manage their sports organizations, through a review of management tools (profit and loss accounts, balance sheet, investments, cash management, etc.) and concrete examples of situations encountered by sports organizations.
Learning objectives
- Understand the different business models for financing sports (clubs, companies, events and sports facilities).
- Master the associated financial management and control systems.
- Establish a business and financial management model applicable to its organization.

- Managers and employees of public sports services (municipalities, cantons, Confederation).
- Directors and managers of sports federations and clubs, and organizers of sporting events.
- Elite athletes undergoing reconversion, managers and professionals wishing to enter the sports sector.
Program
This short program economy & finances was built for professionals seeking to learn about fundamental concepts and then practice them trough practical exercises. There is a strong emphasis on practical application supported by academic excellence, with the use of exercises and break-out groups, industry examples and guest speakers. The fundamental notions will be presented beforehand, then supplemented and illustrated by numerous practical exercises based on real cases .
This approach will allow the participants to deploy the concepts presented during the course as well as forging a strong analytical mindset to tackle future challenges they might face on .
