Presentation of the program

Sport is a constantly evolving field, with rapid growth and an increasingly complex context to manage. The CAS in Sports Leadership and Management aims to provide Swiss and international sports leaders and managers with the management tools they need to boost the performance of their organizations.

The teaching method is innovative and interactive. Each module consists of a theoretical framework, the sharing of field experience, and group work on professional or personal cases. Each participant is accompanied individually by a recognized specialist in his or her sector of activity to prepare his or her personal work.

Learning objectives

  1. Identify and understand developments in the field of sport and its national and international context.
  2. Implement new management methods and tools, integrate the principles and master the tools of project management.
  3. Assess and adapt your leadership style and strengthen your ability to federate teams.

Target audience

  1. Managers and employees of public sports services (municipalities, cantons, Confederation).
  2. Directors and managers of sports federations and clubs, and organizers of sporting events.
  3. Elite athletes undergoing reconversion, executives and professionals wishing to enter the sports sector.

Program's curriculum

The open program in Leadership & sports management is a CAS designed for professionals wishing to develop new skills in parallel with their professional activity. This open program incorporates a strong participatory dimension. The fundamental notions will be presented beforehand, then supplemented and illustrated by numerous practical exercises based on real cases.

The Leadership & sports management program consists of 7 blocks . This represents 14 days spread over 4 months. That represents a total of 112 hours of teaching and about as many hours of personal work.

Organisational performance
The "Steering the performance of sports organizations" module aims to give sports managers the tools to develop a strategic approach to managing their organizations. It introduces tools for measuring and analyzing the performance of sports organizations, followed by the management of key success factors. see program Organisational performance

Public sports policies
The "Managing the performance of public sports policies" module is designed to give sports managers the tools they need to design and implement a public sports policy. It also provides them with the tools to understand the issues and objectives of public policy in sport. see program Public sports policies

Event project management
The "Event project management" module is designed to give sports managers the tools they need to understand the principles and tools of complex project management (sporting events/equipment), to master a project management approach (from design to completion), and to identify and manage the associated risks. see program Event project management

Leadership & change changement
The "Leadership and change management" module aims to give sports managers the principles and tools of leadership, to reflect on their leadership style and personality, and to be able to handle change with their teams. see program Leadership & change changement

CSR, partnership & sustainability
The "Social responsibility, partnerships and sustainable performance" module aims to provide sports managers with tools on trends and "best practices" in social responsibility for sports organizations, and to apply a social responsibility and social reporting approach to their organization (ISO 26000). see program CSR, partnership & sustainability

Economy & finances
The "Economic models and financial performance" module is designed to give sports managers the tools they need to understand the different economic models for financing sport, to master the associated financial management and control systems, and to develop an economic and financial management model applicable to their organization. see program Economy & finances

The "Performance and impact of sporting events" module is designed to give sports managers the tools they need to manage sporting events in line with the objectives set by their organization and key stakeholders, and the economic, social and environmental impacts they generate. see program Sports events
